Today is a special day. On June 5, 1986, Gima S.n.c. was founded in Castelfidardo (Ancona, Italy).
Forty years have passed since that fateful day, when Gianni and Mauro Montanari, driven by initiative and entrepreneurial spirit, founded the company with very few certainties to rely on: their expertise, gained through years of experience in the industry since 1960; a family tradition passed down by their father, Leandro; and the desire to create something unique and special.
With the support of their families, a number of long-standing colleagues—some of whom, after more than 50 years, still work alongside the Montanari family and have become an integral part of the company—and customers who believed in them from the very beginning and continue to believe in Gima to this day, they laid the foundations for a story of passion, dedication and growth.
An alchemy that has made it possible to establish, grow, innovate and evolve.
Forty years ago, the world was a very different place. The accordion and musical instrument industries in Castelfidardo provided jobs for thousands of people, the footwear industry was driving economic growth across the Marche region, and the Merloni family in Fabriano was creating a formidable industrial ecosystem.
Gima has been part of this journey, contributing its expertise and know-how to the growth of these industries and establishing itself as a reliable partner for the entire supply chain and the local community.
Then came globalisation, multinational corporations and the digital revolution. Still led by Gianni and Mauro, Gima was able to adapt and evolve, expanding from a regional company into an international business. By exporting its products worldwide, Gima established itself as a trusted partner for companies of all sizes, from small businesses to medium-sized enterprises and large corporations.
From a general partnership (S.n.c.) to a limited liability company (S.r.l.), and ultimately to a joint-stock company (S.p.A.), Gima has stood the test of time and become deeply rooted in the local community. Now led by the founders’ children, the company has grown from its beginnings in Castelfidardo (Ancona) to its current presence in Recanati (Macerata), while remaining firmly anchored in one of Italy’s most beautiful regions.
Today, Gima operates across three facilities, employs 80 people and holds UNI EN ISO 9001 certification for quality management, UNI EN ISO 14001 certification for environmental management, and UNI EN ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety.
Its areas of expertise include precision turning, tool and die manufacturing, metal stamping and industrial automation.
This is a day we want to remember and celebrate—a story built on passion, commitment, technological innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
For 40 years, thanks to the dedication of everyone involved—including our partners, consultants, professionals, employees and their families—we have been able to build something truly special.
Together, they have helped Gianni and Mauro turn into reality the dream they set out to pursue when they embarked on this journey in 1986.
